Drawing the wings, the clavus, the chalice and thrones. The mixture consists of yellow ochre (2/3) and red ochre (1/3) with a good proportion of emulsion. As regards the wings, it is important to draw the lines precisely and in a way that reflects the appropriate movement. Practice the technique of the heights and the upstrokes, also used for doing the calligraphy in the icon, with a brush containing a dry colour... To give life to your drawing, turn the board until you find the optimal position to release the lines from yourself. The elbow has to be fixed to the table, serving as a pivot for the stability and precision of the gesture... The thickness of the stroke varies according it progresses and finishes sharply when you raise your brush from the board... |

When we draw rectilinear lines, the flexibility of the wrist compensates the curvature of the gesture that derives from the elbow being fixed to the table. This way of drawing becomes "natural" provided you train for a long time... |
