Reinforcing the colour of the wings, the thrones and the chalice

The colour used to reinforce the colour of the wings is a mixture of yellow ochre and vermilion red. A soft modelling is needed to emphasize the feathers that stand out and to leave the upper part of the wings clear. If the colour obtained is not strong enough, a glazing can be done using the same values of pigments, but more transparent...

Use the same mixture to reinforce and unify the colour of the chalice and thrones.
If needed, use also the same colour with a little bit of red ochre to reinforce the clavus.

Working on the bases' sides

Use a mixture of red ochre and yellow ochre, dark enough to model the bases' sides. Bring out the wood's decorations while modelling: in the middle zone, pull the pigments downwards towards the carving and in the lowest part, pull the pigments down towards the ground...

The mountain

The color we chose is a mixture of yellow ochre, a little bit of red ochre and a point of burnt umber. While modelling, leave the rocks that stand out transparent. Pull the pigments towards the outside - the edges of the mountain and the frame.

The tree

It may be necessary to retouch a little bit the modelling of the foliage: use a mixture of viridian and red ochre. You can also add a little bit of black to the mixture in order to accentuate the contour.

The foliage can be decorated with small spots of various greens, adding more or less yellow ochre or red ochre to the mixture according to your desire... but do not forget… it is an oak!

At the end, verify also the colour of the trunk and, if needed, retouch it again using red ochre or burnt Siena.

The house

To reinforce the color of the house, before applying the highlights, put a regular layer (modelling slightly) of yellow ochre with veronese green.

Next step:

The first highlight (except the flesh)
